Early Life and Activism

Golda Meir was born Golda Meyerson on May 3, 1898, in Kiev, Ukraine. She immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of seven and later moved to Palestine in 1921. Meir became actively involved in the Zionist movement and helped establish the Jewish state in 1948.

Political Career

Meir held various cabinet positions, including Foreign Minister (1956-1965). In 1969, she became Israel's fourth Prime Minister, serving until 1974. Known as the "Iron Lady" for her unwavering commitment to peace and security, Meir led the country through the Yom Kippur War of 1973.

Legacy

Golda Meir died on December 8, 1978, in Jerusalem. She is remembered as a visionary leader who dedicated her life to building a secure and prosperous Israel. Her legacy continues to inspire women and leaders around the world.
