Lieke Martens Announces Retirement from International Football

Dutch Forward to Retire in June

The Hague, Netherlands - Netherlands forward Lieke Martens announced her retirement from international football on Tuesday, May 21. The 31-year-old made the announcement via a statement released by the Dutch Football Association (KNVB).

Paris Saint-Germain Move

Martens' decision to retire from the international scene comes shortly after her move to French club Paris Saint-Germain. The winger signed a three-year deal with PSG after leaving Barcelona at the end of the 2021-22 season.

Martens has been a key player for the Netherlands, earning 142 caps and scoring 51 goals. She was part of the team that won the Euros in 2017 and was named FIFA Women's Player of the Year in 2017.

Martens' retirement is a significant loss for the Netherlands, but she will continue to play at club level for PSG.
